Thank you to GOODREADS for the opportunity to read this book before publication in exchange for an honest review。 This is my first Jeffrey Archer book。 There are several plot lines throughout this book and in the end, I JUST COULDN'T REALLY TELL HOW THEY WERE INTERCONNECTED WITH THE STORY。 THE ART PARTS WERE CONFUSING TO ME。 SORRY, IT IS THE WAY THAT I FELT。 AND THE ENDING SEEMS TO ME THAT BW GOT AWAY WITH HIS SCHEME。 Thank you to GOODREADS for the opportunity to read this book before publication in exchange for an honest review。 This is my first Jeffrey Archer book。 There are several plot lines throughout this book and in the end, I JUST COULDN'T REALLY TELL HOW THEY WERE INTERCONNECTED WITH THE STORY。 THE ART PARTS WERE CONFUSING TO ME。 SORRY, IT IS THE WAY THAT I FELT。 AND THE ENDING SEEMS TO ME THAT BW GOT AWAY WITH HIS SCHEME。 。。。more

Interesting。 Archer has lost none of his habit of gripping one's attention and moving things along。 Interesting。 Archer has lost none of his habit of gripping one's attention and moving things along。 。。。more

This read put me two books behind my goal for the year, but it was worth it。 I have learned to settle in for Archer's writing style and just let the story unfold。 It's completely different from anything else that I read and I enjoy these books。。。 this series。。。 immensely。 The slow pace was intentional。 I'm not sure how he accomplishes it, but with ease, he helps us get right back on our feet in the plot every time without missing a beat。 Can't wait for the next one。 This read put me two books behind my goal for the year, but it was worth it。 I have learned to settle in for Archer's writing style and just let the story unfold。 It's completely different from anything else that I read and I enjoy these books。。。 this series。。。 immensely。 The slow pace was intentional。 I'm not sure how he accomplishes it, but with ease, he helps us get right back on our feet in the plot every time without missing a beat。 Can't wait for the next one。 。。。more

Good story like the continuation of the Warwick series。 Each is a bit different than the previous one。

An amazing book from Jeffrey Archer。 Un-put-downable。 two different streams coming together with William Warwick as the common thread。 A beautifully crafted plot, which moves at a breakneck speed and leaves you gasping for breath。 With Archer, I just cant have enough of him。 Wish his follow up novel comes up sooner。

Disappointing。 Continuing saga of mutual enmity between stereoscopic characters with detailed descriptions of the protocols of royalty。 Lacking in plot, mystery or thrills - until the very end。

I'm getting tired of the Miles Faulkner plotlines。 In the author interview in the back of the book Archer says that William Warwick has a different rank and a different type of crime in each book。 But they still all have the same antagonist。 I liked the parts about the Royal Protection Service, but too much of this was still about Faulkner, his wife, and his art collection。 I'm getting tired of the Miles Faulkner plotlines。 In the author interview in the back of the book Archer says that William Warwick has a different rank and a different type of crime in each book。 But they still all have the same antagonist。 I liked the parts about the Royal Protection Service, but too much of this was still about Faulkner, his wife, and his art collection。 。。。more

Jeffrey Archer writing skill keeps me turning the pages as quickly as I can read them。 I hope he will continue on with this series beyond the next book that I’ve started to read。

A bit slow at start when one considers the other books of the Warwick series but it regained it’s charm by the end。 Veteran Jeffrey Archer readers would have called it a disappointment at start but exciting by the end。 This novel showcases the other side of British policing, one closely related to the Royalty Protection Service and the other one being Counter-Terrorism。 How to tie two ends into one? Ask Mr Archer for that

While the latest instalment of the series is definitely enjoyable and an absolute page turner, there are definite instances that make it fall short of the previous book。 Incorporating the Peoples Princess into the storyline was a definite plus, and the author was perfectly able to capture the signature  style and charisma into the progress of the story。 However, the confusing element is the progress of Miles Faulkner; after four books of clearly marking him as the primary antagonist, the book gi While the latest instalment of the series is definitely enjoyable and an absolute page turner, there are definite instances that make it fall short of the previous book。 Incorporating the Peoples Princess into the storyline was a definite plus, and the author was perfectly able to capture the signature  style and charisma into the progress of the story。 However, the confusing element is the progress of Miles Faulkner; after four books of clearly marking him as the primary antagonist, the book gives the man the shade of a grey character, while his lawyer tends to go up in the villain scale。 How this ploy works into the next book will be a key point in witnessing the growth of the series。 。。。more

Spinning a story around the elite Royalty Protection Command and hinting at their duplicitous and despicable activities felt like a strange departure from Archer’s typical subjects。 Focusing a portion of this story on Princess Diana, her questionable liaisons, and painting her in a less than favorable light is puzzling。 It made me wonder whether the plot is fact or fiction。 It’s never a good thing when one agency is sent in on “the sly” to investigate another and while the characters of William Spinning a story around the elite Royalty Protection Command and hinting at their duplicitous and despicable activities felt like a strange departure from Archer’s typical subjects。 Focusing a portion of this story on Princess Diana, her questionable liaisons, and painting her in a less than favorable light is puzzling。 It made me wonder whether the plot is fact or fiction。 It’s never a good thing when one agency is sent in on “the sly” to investigate another and while the characters of William Warwick’s team and the elite Royalty Protection Command, along with their specific functions were well described and the action is well plotted, nastiness abounds。 There was just something that didn’t ring true。 Maybe that is wishful thinking because if there is any truth to the narrative it is horrifying。 The secondary storyline involving Warwick’s wife and her profession was interesting and interconnected with the main plot。 I thought this was the more interesting and meticulously constructed part of the book。 The characters were so completely flawed and their thinking was so interesting and convoluted that the tension created was electric。Archer’s writing is extraordinary, his plots are complex and well thought out, described and defined。 I liked this installment of the Detective William Warwick Series, jurist didn’t love it。 Thank you Harper 360 / HarperCollins and NetGalley for a copy。 。。。more

Intricate plots, interesting details and dry humour make Jeffrey Archer's novels enjoyable reads。 They are somehow exciting and soothing at the same time。 I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others in this series, however, because there were just too many machinations and twists and turns in one of the plot lines, which made it difficult to follow。Chief Inspector William Warwick and his team are detailed to try and root out endemic corruption in the Royal Protection squad。 Apparently, the Pri Intricate plots, interesting details and dry humour make Jeffrey Archer's novels enjoyable reads。 They are somehow exciting and soothing at the same time。 I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others in this series, however, because there were just too many machinations and twists and turns in one of the plot lines, which made it difficult to follow。Chief Inspector William Warwick and his team are detailed to try and root out endemic corruption in the Royal Protection squad。 Apparently, the Prince of Wales is being taken advantage of, and doesn't realise what's happening。 This seemed a bit unbelievable to me, but he does have a lot to do! One of the team has to protect Princess Diana, which turns out to be a more difficult kettle of fish。。。As if this isn't enough to keep him occupied, Warwick still has to contend with a nefarious criminal art collector Miles Faulkner, and his corrupt lawyer, who has his eye on Miles's money。 Miles seems to be incredibly busy with his evil schemes, considering that he is supposed to be safely tucked away in prison。 His wife, Christina, also has plans of her own, and keeps Warwick's wife Beth on her toes, with her dealings in art, as well as trying to keep one step ahead of Miles's ideas。Warwick's friend, fellow policeman Ross, becomes involved trying to defeat a terrorist plot against Princess Diana。 This is extremely detailed, and must have involved some meticulous research, although the terrorists seem pretty stupid half the time, which is possible, of course。 Apart from that, the whole thing seemed quite realistic!I did have a minor issue with the research。 Mobile phones play a huge part in the story, and it was set in the early days of their use, I thought。 However, maybe the technology was more advanced than I remember。I always like Archer's books, and I am looking forward to the next one。I received this free ebook from NetGalley in return for an honest review。 。。。more
